the lonely tree
dies each winter.
to care for it, no one takes the time
frailty fear famine fading finished.
yet the lonely tree still stands
the bitter coldness ends and the rains begin
the lonely tree is nudged back to life and proudly offers blossoms of delight
bold brilliant beaming blazing boundless (the sun) nourishes,
the lonely tree flourishes.
how long can it possibly live
before it has given everything it has to give?
